PTO NEWS
The PTO would like to offer a warm welcome to all of our new students and welcome back to all of our returning students. We hope the beginning of the school year has gone smoothly for everyone.
With the start of the new school year, we want to let everyone know what wonderful activities we have planned for the year. The PTO is committed to supporting our teachers and school and to help develop a sense of community within SRMS. All of this is only possible with your help. If you want to help plan these activities then please come to our meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 in the Elementary Extended Day room. By participating with the PTO you can earn 5 hours toward your service hours.
Trunk or Treat- October 29, 2009 at 6:30 in the SRMS Parking Lot
This is a great way for our children to trick or treat with their friends. All participants decorate their cars and then park in the parking lot while the kids go from car to car collecting treats. This a fun activity for all involved! You do not need to hand out treats to participate but the more the merrier. Just come on over and enjoy some trick or treating.
Fall and Spring Lock in- Fall Lock-In October 23th Spring Lock-In to be announced
This fun fundraiser is a great way to get a night out for all of us parents! This activity is for 1st through 6th grade students. Students some to the school for a night of fun with dinner, movies, activities and a sleep over with their friends at school. The money from this fundraiser has gone to purchase new items for our library. The elementary kids love this activity but we need plenty of volunteers to make this work, especially dads!
Coat Drive- November 2 - 20
One of the focuses of Montessori education is to give back to our community. What better way than to have a coat and food drive as the weather turns colder? The food bank greatly appreciates the food that we donate each year.
Food Drive October 23- November 20
The food drive is back during the fall. It is our opportunity to give back to the community during this time of giving thanks. It will kick off on October 23 during the Fall Lock-in and it will continue until November 20th.
Holiday Families- November 30 - December 14.
This is a wonderful activity to help teach our children that Christmas and the Holidays are a time for giving. Each family will have the opportunity to choose a family in need from our community and help provide needed items and gifts for that family for Christmas.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon and Week- Fall October 30th , Spring- TBA
Every year we sponsor a luncheon in the fall and week in the spring to show our appreciation to our wonder staff for all that they do for our children. Activities include wish list boxes and a special luncheon.
Garage Sale- May 1st
A wonderful fundraiser for our school, and a great opportunity for to de-clutter your home and garage! Even if you cannot help chair this event, please plan now and start saving those things you would like to get rid of. The more donations for sale the better! We will also need people to help work the garage sale.
As you can see the PTO has many exciting activities planned for this year. Participating in these events is a great way to meet other families as well as support or staff and school. We hope to see everyone at our meetings!
