Activities

Program activities are planned to ensure a fun and nurturing environment while extending the Montessori philosophy into "after school" hours. These activities may include indoor and outdoor play, dress up, gardening, igloo making, ice sculptures, manipulatives, puppet theater, music, dance, art, etc. Quiet time for relaxation and homework assistance is available for those who need extra support.

Some activities include:

Back to School Picnic
SRMS celebrates the beginning of the school year by holding an evening picnic at the school during the first month of school.  Families enjoy food while getting reacquainted with old friends and welcoming new families.

Stone Soup
Stone soup is a fun tradition for both parents and students at SRMS. Each child brings an item to contribute to the soup, which is prepared by the students with help from parent volunteers. Parents join their students for soup on the last Thursday of school before Thanksgiving break for primary students.  Parents join their students for soup on the last Friday of school before Thanksgiving break for elementary students.

Holiday Houses
Everyone, even the youngest of children, creates and decorates holiday houses. A parent needs to accompany their child to this memorable event. This event is held the last day of school before winter break.

Spring Fine Arts Show
Spring is a great time for SRMS students to show off some of their favorite works of the year. SRMS sponsors a memorable evening as families view students' creations and are entertained by a musical production.

End of the Year School Picnic
SRMS celebrates the end of the school year and the beginning of the summer by holding a school picnic at Tautphaus Park on the last day of school. Families enjoy food and fun games while saying good-bye to friends and arranging summer play dates.
