The Montessori philosophy of education begins with respect for each child’s natural ability and desire to learn. The teacher prepares the environment, directs the activity, and offers the child engaging stimulation. Patterns of concentration and thoroughness, established in early childhood, produce a confident, competent learner in later years. Montessori education teaches children to observe, to think, to judge. It introduces children to the joy of learning at an early age and provides a framework in which intellectual and social disciplines go hand in hand. At Snake River Montessori School, you will see classrooms where children love to learn. The students’ enthusiasm for school is evident as they interact with each other, their teachers, and the Montessori environment. The average class size is 22 students with a minimum of one Montessori certified full-time teacher and a teacher’s aide. Classes are grouped into three-year age spans with each classroom having available a wide range of educational material. |
